Hair product empties – September 2015

I absolutely love product empties posts because it means I have made a dent in my stash – and since I haven’t been buying many products as of late, I can finally see a bit of progress with regards to deep conditioners however I still have to make a dent in my instant conditioner stash.

My last empties post was in April, I have since had a few long term protective style installed, I find that this slows down the rate at which I use my products because I don’t wash my hair as often and when I do, I dilute the products (shampoo and conditioner) with water.

Let’s get into it!

AfroBotanics Strengthening and Repairing Treatment
Botanics Repairing and Strengthening TreatmentI used this as a protein treatment every 4 weeks. I loved it. Even though it’s a protein conditioner, it left my hair soft after using it, so most times I did not follow up with a moisturising conditioner, saving me time and money.

Repurchase or nah? Definitely repurchase, I have another protein conditioner which I want to finish in the mean time before I repurchase this.

ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor
Hair product emptiesI’ve had this product for nearly 2 years, it was one of those that I had been looking for for a while, so when I could finally get it in my stash I used it very sparingly. Towards the end, I was only using it when I was protein layering on ends, edges and my nape

Repurchase or nah? Nah – it’s difficult and expensive to get it in SA and I have already found my staple protein conditioner.

Vatika Naturals Black Seed Hair Mask Treatment Cream
This conditioner was OK, nothing to write home about – I don’t see room or it in my stash, so I will not be repurchasing.

The Body Shop Banana Conditioner
banana-conditioner_lI don’t know why I bought this product in the first place because I am not a fan of the smell of bananas which is quite overpowering in this product. I used it as an instant conditioner, I found that it worked well when my hair was newly relaxed, however if I was over a few weeks post relaxer, it didn’t really work as well, it had zero slip

Repurchase or nah? Definitely not. thank you very much!

Aunt Jackie’s Oh So Clean Moisturising and Softening Shampoo
Aunt Jackie's Oh So Clean Moisturising and Softening ShampooMy friend who has natural hair recommended this shampoo to me, I loved using it, it smelt great, lathered like a dream and left my hair soft. It has been my staple shampoo for most of this year.

Repurchase or nah? Not this time, I replaced it with a shampoo from The Body Shop (Rainforest Moisture) – I was there a few weekends ago and they had a sale, I couldn’t resist buying a shampoo. I will alternate between these two for now

Dabur Vatika Naturals Virgin Olive Deep Conditioning Hair Mask
Dabur Vatika Naturals Virgin Olive Deep Conditioning Hair MaskThis was my staple moisturising conditioner for a while, I loved using it and loved how it made my hair soft. However, I have found something that works better (my beloved JoicoK-Pak Intense Hydrator), therefore I will not be repurchasing.

Have you used any of these products?

The way you have put that Aunty jackies shampoo upside down, every drop counts lol! How much is aphogee treatment where you are? Do you think there’s opportunity for someone to set up a shop of imported hair & beauty products in SA?

lol! I even rinsed it out with water to make sure that I used every last drop.
I’m not sure about the Aphogee costs here, we only can get it online.
A shop would be a great opportunity, I know for sure I would buy if the prices weren’t too ridiculous.
