Hi everybody! It’s a quarter to the weekend!
Another travel Thursday, let’s take a trip down memory lane to 2 years ago when I visited Barcelona. I went with my sister and my BFF, we flew in from Geneva to Barcelona where we spent 4 days. The trip was filled with some sightseeing, some chilling on the beach time, lots of food and dranks 🙂 and looots of shopping. As usual, this is a post I wrote on my previous blog soon after returning from the trip.

Spain has always been on my list of countries to visit, and I am so happy and grateful that I got the chance to explore Spain’s second biggest city Barcelona. The weather couldn’t have been greater for us while we were there, temperatures were above 30 degrees C. It was just perfect!

There is something to be said that Spanish people, they are so beautiful, the whole lot of them, granted my sample size was small, but I was impressed. What I liked about Barcelona was the laid-back vibe that the city had, which fit in very well with our holiday theme. Before I went to Barcelona, I really didn’t know much about the city nor did I research on ‘things to do in Barcelona’ – I sort of wanted to go with the flow, which is sometimes the best way to discover a place because you don’t have a pre-scheduled timetable!

So we pretty much go on to the public transport and got off in interesting places and walked around a lot and got lost a lot, but that was all part of the fun. One fun thing that we did plan was to go to Camp Nou which is the home stadium for the soccer team FC Barcelona. I am not really much of a soccer fan but this was one experience that I did not want to miss, they are the world’s best soccer team after all. After walking around the museum and the stadium, I almost wanted to become a hard-core soccer fan.

We also had a beach day, where were went off to one of the beaches in Barcelona and we did what the locals do: sit around at the beach and get our tan on *not* – definitely not the tan part, we were safely tucked away under our umbrellas. One thing about the people at the beach was that they were not shy about their bodies, not one single bit! Ladies were wearing the skimpiest bikinis and some were even topless. The best thing about this was they felt comfortable enough to do this in public and not have some weirdos staring at them and passing unwelcome remarks – I swear that women here don’t know how good they have it when it comes to being free do such stuff at the beach, we have a long way to go back home! *sigh* – the struggle continues.^The scene at the beach

I loved Barcelona and I would go back in a heartbeat, there is still so much to see in the city and I feel like I just touched the tip of the iceberg. The next time I go, I want to get into the historical and cultural bits of the city, we saw so many gorgeous historical buildings, and I would love to get into knowing the history associated with Barcelona and the Spanish people.

And now, along with Paris and Venice – Barcelona is in my top 3 of favourite European cities that I have visited, I really loved it that much!
