So I am back in another protective style; this time it is really needed. I have a busy time ahead of me and I want to have my hair away so that it’s one less stress that I have to deal with. I’ve also had my hair out since early September and I was tired of having to wash it and decide how to style it every weekend.
I’ve done various types of crochet braids this year; I wanted to try out another style. This time I went for twists which I prepared myself. It took me about 2 weeks to complete making the twists, I was really taking my time. I used Expressions kanekalon hair which I cut into 3 parts; I ended up using just less than 1.5 packets to achieve the style. I asked in my September hair update if you guys were interested in me filming a tutorial for this hairstyle; and I got some positive replies; so that is what I did.
Some of the lessons learnt for this crochet braids twists style:
- Smaller flat twists at the back – because I doubled up on the front flat twists, some of the back flat twists were too big and thus the braids aren’t as flat as I want them to be
- Figure out a way to join the flat twists at the nape – I am absolutely horrible at this, and thus I cannot tie a high pony with these braids 🙁
- The ends of the braid twists could have been much better! Yep, I need to learn how to taper off the braids correctly
I can’t wait to do this style again and have more fun with it, perhaps using other colour extensions!

Enjoy!
Gal, you look stunning!Great job! You just gave me an idea as I hate sitting for hours doing my hair. How long did it take you to crochet into the hair?
Thank you Diapeng. It took me about 2.5 hours to do the crocheting part. It usually takes just under 2 hours if I’m not filming it.
Great Job Lungz!!! they look gorgeous friend ♥
Thank you Lebo 🙂
Girl, The time and effort that went into creating this hair look absolutely blows me away.

Great Tutorial girl.
Thank you Zanele 🙂 – I am hoping to improve my skills with time so I can do better styles
