nompilo is one

My daughter turned one on the 8th of March, we had a small 1st birthday party for her on the 3rd of March to celebrate her birthday. I was quite undecided about whether to have a party or not, we made the final decision to have a party less than 3 weeks to the day of the party so there was little time to get everything together. I did most of of planning and the decor myself with the help of Pinterest, I love DIY so this was right up my alley. It was sooo tiring though, wow, but my vision came together wonderfully and the party was a success.

I bought most of the material I used for the party decor from The Crazy Store and from China Mall. The food was all made by me – I wanted to have a no fuss meal on the day so that we’re not stuck in the kitchen preparing food. For starters we had salami, olive and cheddar skewers and for mains we had beef lasagne (which I had prepared and froze during the week) and roast chicken, for dessert we had the birthday cake and cupcakes. The yummy cake and cupcakes were from Nanini Ntuli and Lethu was the photographer for the day, she captured all the beautiful photos that I am sharing.

 baby girl party dresses

Birthday girl had 2 dresses for her party, the frilly one was from her christening that took place in early February and the second one was a gift.

Don’t let the smile fool you, it was such a struggle trying to get her into the dress!

I changed up the WiFi password for the occasion… I’m that mom 🙂

The hula hoop frame was my most favourite DIY prop! I was so proud of it.

She’d rather eat her present from her uncle

More presents! She was really spoiled!

Eating sugar for the first time, she was hesitant at first but with time she got in and really enjoyed it.
