low end vs high end // brow pencils

    eyebrow pencils

All makeup lover knows that brows are everything and can either make or break a look. A lot of us need a bit (or a lot of help) in the brow department; we have to fill them in to get them looking fleeky. I have gone through a lot of brow products; it’s an ever evolving process. There are many different kinds out there from powders, pomades, pencils, crayons and so forth. I own all the the above listed, but in this post I want to concentrate on brow pencils. The aim of these types of posts is to save you guys some coins and give you alternative low end products that are just as good as the high end ones. I’ve done this type of post previously for mascaras and setting spraysRead more…

    Postbox Courier x Boxycharm

    Postbox Courier and Boxycharm

If you are a regular reader of my blog you know that I like a bit of online shopping here and there when I have saved up some coins. While I don’t mind waiting 2 months plus for items that I buy from AliExpress, when I buy makeup from the USA I want my items delivered to me ASAP. In the past I have used this one shipping forwarding service and I wasn’t 100% happy with their service. So when the people from PostBox Courier contacted me and asked me to review their service, I was on board and ready to jump ship. I used this service to ship my September Boxycharm, read on to find out about Postbox Courier and to peep the contents of the September Boxycharm. Read more…

decluttering my hair products stash… here’s what’s leaving

    hair products swap

I am attending a hair event in Durban this coming weekend – I am keen to see what they have in store for us as this is the first hair event I will be attending. When I found out that there is going to be a hair products swap booth at the event I was so happy because I really need to get rid of some hair products. One of my goals for last year was to find my staple hair products and stick to using them, I was really over being a product junkie. To this end, I have a few products in my stash that I have either bought or were sent to me that weren’t really working for me and these are the ones that I am giving away. Read more…

    The Jaclyn Hill palette

When I heard news about the Jaclyn Hill palette in January, I just knew that I had to buy it when it launched. That date finally came along on the 21st of June which was the official launch date. The palette was sold out in 45 minutes, I was so happy to have been able to get my hands on one :). I have received questions about the intricate details of how I bought the palette and thus I have decided to write a post giving you guys all the details and the shipping times so you can get a feel for it in case you ever want to buy makeup from the US. I have also filmed a video of a makeup look I have created using the palette, peep it after the jump. Read more…

how to // trim 4c natural hair

    Trimming 4c natural hair

Trimming ones hair is one of those unfortunate things that need to happen if you want to maintain healthy ends and healthy looking hair. When I had relaxed hair, I hated trimming my hair because it equated to a loss in length. Since becoming natural, I have become the opposite, in the beginning of my natural hair journey, I was so scissor happy – luckily that has died down now. I recently trimmed my hair and I have decided to share the knowledge of the whole process.  Read more…

how i deal with sponsored content on my blog

    sponsored content south african bloggers

So sponsored posts can be a contentious issue in the blogging world. I have seen people on other blogs commenting how the blog ends up looking like an advertising space when there is too much sponsored content. However, as a blogger it is also nice (more than nice) to earn some extra money on the side by doing sponsored content. So where does one draw the line? How much is too much? How about disclosure, how does that work out? Read more…
