I have only had my box braids for over a week and I am already bored *yawn* – I miss my hair now and I am slowly counting down to 4 weeks till I take them down.
In the meantime I have decided to set little challenges myself to keep myself motivated. This week I am starting with the inversion challenge which I am sure that everyone on their hair journey has heard about. I have done it a couple of times before and over those times I didn’t get the 1 inch (2.54 cm) growth promised. I think for me it’s more of getting in my regular scalp massages which I don’t do as often as I should.
I am going to be doing the inversion method for the next 7 days, till Sunday. I am using an oil mix that includes almost all the oils I have in my stash. My ‘base’oils were castor oil and coconut oil to which I added 10 drops of each of these oils: rosemary, lavender, peppermint, cedarwood and thyme essential oils.
Have any of you guys ever gotten a big growth spurt with the inversion method?
Update 09 December 2014
I managed to do the inversion for 5 out of the 7 days and I did get extra growth, but like I said I did not measure it so I don’t know much growth I got exactly. I plan to put this method on my monthly to do list.
I haven’t tried the inversion challenge. I think it will give me serious headaches. Hope it works out for you.
Thanks! I am doing it mainly so I can get my scalp massages in whilst I have braids
Go for it! It’s one of those things on my list I never get around to doing so I’ll be looking forward to the results.
Hey Bonolo! I did get some extra growth with the inversion method – but it’s a schlep doing it every night!
