I have been rather busy lately and I haven’t had time to recap my wash days on the blog. They have also been pretty repetitive lately. I mostly do the same thing with using different products.
Anywhoo, I had a wash day on Sunday the 29th which went like this:
- Prepoo: Coconut oil. Sat for 20 minutes under my heating cap and 1.5 hours without heat
- Shampoo: Aunt Jackie’s Oh So Clean Moisturising and Softening Shampoo
- Instant Conditioner: Watsons Repairing Treatment Conditioner with Honey, I kept it in my hair for 10 minutes then rinsed out
- Tea Rinse: A mixture of rooibos, chamomile and chai tea using the pour and catch method
- Deep Conditioner: Applied the Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor on my edges, nape and ends. I then applied Dabur Vatika Intensive Nourishment mixed with glycerine and JBCO mix . I DCed using heat for 15 minutes and without heat for 4 hours
- Leave-ins: Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Leave-In Conditioner, Motions CPR Triple Action Leave-In Conditioner and Coconut Oil
- Moisturise and Seal: AfroBotanics Conditioning Moisturiser and Olive Oil
Prior to going away for Easter, I wanted to get my hair into a fuss free hairstyle because I was going to a music festival and we were going to be camping and doing some hiking. I really wanted to have my hair out the way but still taken care of and wearing the wig was a no-no! So my doughnut bun make thingie majig came to my rescue, it may just be my newest favourite hair accessory. I decided to do a fuss-free co-wash and DC without the prepoo (I was pressed for time). And here is what I did:
- Cowash: Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Moisturising Conditioner
- Condition: A mixture of L’Oreal Elvive Total Repair 5 Masque with Restoring Serum and Watsons Repairing
Treatment Conditioner with Honey – I left the mixture in my hair overnight - Leave-ins: Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Leave-In Conditioner, Motions CPR Triple Action Leave-In Conditioner and Coconut Oil
- Moisture and Seal: AfroBotanics Conditioning Moisturiser and Olive Oil
This quick co-wash left my hair very soft and I was certain that I could go 3 days without having to moisturise my hair again. I got my hair up into a doughnut bun and went on my way. Later that night, I managed to dance the bun off 😀 so that didn’t work as well as I thought it would. I basically didn’t treat my hair well over the weekend: I slept without a scarf, I was wearing a straw hat most of the time and my ends were not hidden *bad Lungi!*
I had another wash day on the 6th of April, here my hair was due for a clarifying session and a protein treatment. I baggied my hair overnight the previous night to give it a moisture boost. The next day my wash day went as follows:
- Prepoo: Coconut oil. Sat for 30 minutes under my heating cap.
- Shampoo: ORS Creamy Aloe
- Instant Conditioner: The BodyShop Banana Conditioner – I am trying to use this product up, I kept it in my hair for 5 minutes then rinsed out
- Deep Conditioner: I used my AfroBotanics Repairing and Strengthening Treatment. I DCed using heat for 45 minutes. This conditioner is best because it does not need to be followed with a moisturising conditioner, it’s such a time saver
- Leave-ins: Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Leave-In Conditioner, Motions CPR Triple Action Leave-In Conditioner and Coconut Oil
- Moisturise and Seal: AfroBotanics Conditioning Moisturiser and Olive Oil
I am loving how I have managed not to change my wash days a lot, I am finally getting to a point where I can streamline my regimen and my staple products. I always use the same leave-ins and moisture and sealing products – I have found a combination that works for me and it helps to detangle my hair and my hair stays moisturised for a longer period.
