I touched up my new growth on the 03rd of May – this was my second relaxer for the year, I was 16 weeks post and I was more than ready to get the relaxer.
I self-relaxed using ORS Olive Oil Girls No-Lye Conditioning Relaxer System – this was my first time using this relaxer. I will carry on using it in my future touch-ups, even though I think it is the same formula as the adults one – I like the fact that the kit comes with more pre-relaxer hair protection than the adult kit, which focuses on the post-relaxer styling. And the gloves fit me well 🙂 unlike the adult gloves which I never used.
Here is how the process went:
[1] The night before, I applied coconut oil on all my hair, then I parted my hair into quads and further into small sections which I twisted
[2] The next morning, I applied the Skin & Scalp Protective Gel that came in the kit onto my scalp, the perimeter of my head and over the ears
[3] Applied the Protective Pre-Treatment from the kit onto my previously relaxed hair. I doubled that up with the left over Skin & Scalp Protective Gel.
[4] Applied the relaxer to my new growth and smoothed. This process lasted 12.5 minutes
[5] Rinsed out the relaxer with warm water
[6] Did a mid-relaxer-protein-step using Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor for 10 minutes – no heat
[7] Neutralised using ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo
[8] Deep conditioned for 30 minutes with heat. I used a mixture of the conditioner that was in the relaxer kit + Dabur Vatika Naturals Hot Oil Treatment Deep Conditioning + castor oil
[9] Rinsed that off, sprayed ACV solution on the hair and applied my leave-ins: Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Leave-In Conditioner and Motions CPR Triple Action Leave-In Conditioner
[10] Moisturised and sealed using AfroBotanics Conditioning Moisturiser and Olive Oil
[11] I air dried and proceeded to run errands
[11] In the evening I rollerset the hair. Used Schwarzkopf Smooth ‘n Shine Conditioning Foam Wrap and some water to dampen the hair. Sat under my soft hooded drier for an hour to dry the hair.
When I finished, it was late, so I had a bright idea to wrap the hair in cling film to make it smooth…what a moemish! In the morning, I realised that the hair had baggied instead, so my hair was damp *boo hoo* all that work for nothing. So I couldn’t even length check or take pictures. I wore my normal roll, tuck and pin for the remainder of the week.
So no pictures here – I did do my hair some justice during my 1 week post wash day. Stay tuned for that in an upcoming post.
I did the same type of wrap this week. My hair was frizzy and I was sad. Waiting for the pics . . .
I am so happy the relaxer for girl gave you the results you wanted! *whoop*
