Hi everyone, I just thought it would be an awesome idea to give you a bit of insight as to why I started this blog and of my intentions with it going forward.
I had a hair blog 5 months after starting my hair journey – I needed a place where I could document all that I was doing with my hair and I felt that a blog would keep me on my toes with respect to that. I also wanted to take lots of pictures to track my progress visually.
At first my blog was private, because I was just using it as a tracking tool. I kept it private for about a year and 8 months. In this mean time, I also read other blogs, especially since the number of African hair bloggers started to rise. I wanted to interact and I thought it would be hard to do this if people didn’t know my hair story/journey. So in November 2014, I made my blog public. It felt good to share my journey with everyone, and get feedback from various people.
I feel that is why I wanted to further clarify why I have this blog:1) To document my hair journey 2) Use it as a tool to share information which I think is important to people on their hair journeys, be it what I am doing and hopefully some of my practices will inspire someone else, just like how I have been inspired by all the hair bloggers out there, so it is a pay-it-forward.
My blog is not: 1) a place where I prescribe what other people should be doing to their hair – the only hair I know is mine and I am not in any way qualified to tell people what to do to their hair. As much as I am on a healthy hair journey, I don’t treat it as a very strict regimen that I follow, I believe that it should be fun. I also experiment a lot! and sometimes to the detriment of my hair – however I am treating it as a learning tool as I go along.
Going forward, I want to take my blog to the next level. I am looking to change the look of the blog a little bit, write a bit more about some of my other interests. Don’t worry, it will still be in the ‘beauty’ family, I won’t start blogging about nuclear physics :). So in the next few months, you can look forward to that – I’m still trying to get as much information as possible to make the change seamless.
So there you go! If you have a blog, why did you start blogging? and if I am not already following you – please leave your details in the comments section. I love discovering new blogs!
I’m not really sure why exactly I started blogging but I really enjoy writing and being able to get my thoughts out there.
And I can’t express how happy I am that you made it public… Where would I be without your posts?? you are one of my favorites!
Thanks Lebo! I have nothing but love for you! <3
i did’t know the blog was private for so long!! thanks for letting us in on your journey
