Embracing shrinkage

This week I decided to leave my hair as it is and let it shine in its shrinkage glory. Just for a bit of trendiness, I went for the Madiba part again. It was more defined this time around because I let my hair dry in the ‘position’ overnight. My wash day was short as usual and I am still trying out my sachet conditioners. Here is how it went down…

Prepoo Coconut oil without heat for 30 minutes.
Shampoo The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Shampoo – my hair didn’t feel so oily after this shampoo as it did with my relaxed hair. So I am going to keep using it.
Instant Conditioner Watsons Volumizing Treatment Conditioner with Beer, I usually leave this conditioner in my hair for 2-3 minutes while detangling my hair.
Deep Conditioner Hask Coconut Monoi Oil Nourishing Deep Conditioner with a smidgen of JBCO, I sat under my heating cap for 30 minutes ish – I wasn’t really paying attention. I liked this conditioner, the consistency was just how I like it, nice and thick. My hair felt soft after using it – it is going into my ‘buy’ folder.
Moisture and Sealing ElastaQP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Leave-In Conditioner, Afrobotanics Conditioning Moisturiser and Shea Butter.
Styling I detangled my hair by combing it out in sections, I then placed my part where I wanted it to be. I wrapped my hair in my satin scarf and went to sleep.

Here is how I wore my hair during the day.

4c natural hair embracing shrinkage

30 days of growth challenge
I only managed 2 scalp massages last week. I steamed my hair for my deep conditioning step in my last wash. I started doing the inversion method on Sunday evening and I will be doing that every evening till Saturday – I have set all the reminders on my phone.

    Lovely twa 🙂
Shrinkage is something I’m dreading to face, hence my long-term transition, but your styling helps me embrace it!

I love this Madiba style! I should try styling my hair overnight sometime.

@Lovely twa how long have you been transitioning for? Im in my fourth month and already wishing i could cut. Im really struggling to manage both textures.

I got my JBCO thanks to Lungi. My hair loves it:-)…hopefully my hairline recovers.

Thanks Thobeka, I transitioned for 30 weeks – I also struggled to manage 2 textures.
