protective styling for winter

I recently put my hair away again in a protective style, I typically like a lot of people do this over winter time when the temperatures start dropping and the air is drier. My other reason for a protective style was that I was tired of having my hair out, it had been 5 and a half weeks since taking out my last style and I was ready to not have to worry daily about my hair again.

I decided to go crochet braids again this time because the style was all round wonderful the last time I did it. I used curly extensions instead of marley hair and I love the way it turned out, curly hair is my favourite!

I filmed a portion of the process of doing my hair, I couldn’t film the whole thing because I underestimated the time it would take me to do this style and by the time I finished it was around 8pm on a Sunday night! If there is one tip I can give: if you’re doing your own hair, try to do it on a Saturday, it works so much better that way.

The hair that I used is from Darling, it’s their Zumba Curl in colour 1B, I would’ve loved to use a lighter colour because I think it goes better with my skin tone but they didn’t have any in stock. I ended up using 1.5 packs to cover my whole head.

I intend on keeping this style for another 5 to 6 weeks, my regimen will be the same as before in terms of moisturising my actual hair and scalp massages (I hope I can do them more often this time around). Overall, I am happy with how this hair turned out and yay! for being able to do my own hair, it has been a dream of mine for the longest time.
