When it comes to lipsticks I can never make up my mind as to which I prefer: bright or nude lips; I love them both equally. I own quite a number of nude lipsticks ranging from brown-y to pink tones. Nude lipsticks are versatile because they can be paired with an everyday look as well as a dramatic eyelook if you need to tone it down a bit. I believe that a nude lipstick should look like your lips, but slightly better. That is why I tend to pair them with a brown lipliner to create an ombre look which matches the actual colour of my lips. And if you don’t have a nude lipstick, you can always pair a brown lipliner with a lipgloss to create that look.

For this post, I have decided to showcase some of the types/tones of nude lipsticks available to us black women that I have in my make up kit. This is by no means an exhaustive list, it is what I have in my kit. Most of the nude lipsticks in my make up kit are from brands available at Clicks, Dischem and Woolworths, so they are all pretty affordable. Funny enought, it seems like when I travelled to India, I was on a nude lipstick craze because 3 or the lipsticks featured I bought whilst I was there. I paired each nude lipstick with the LA Girl Lipliner in the colour Chocolate.
