It’s always a great time when a new hair care brand lands on our shelves, it’s even better if it is formulated for my hair type. I was given a chance to try out products from Creightons Professional The Curl Company. The brand has a variety of products, I chose to try out the Styling Creme Gel and the Deep Conditioning Curl Masque. I have been using these products to wash my hair over the last 2 wash days, and I wanted to share my first impressions.
When I chose the types of products that I wanted, I was still in the wanting to try a wash and go phase, that’s why I chose a gel. And of course one can never go wrong with a deep conditioner in one’s hair product stash.
The Curl Company – Styling Creme Gel
The product promises to smooth and hydrate curls whilst adding style and hold. To use, you are meant to smooth onto dry or damp curls and style as usual. I used it to help define my twist out, I used this product along with the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie as part of my twist out tutorial. I’m not sure if it was the combination of products or something else, but my twist out had white flakes and my hair felt coated. I don’t think my hair loves gel at all, or I am applying way more than I should. I’m a bit dejected because I was really set on perfecting the wash and go; I will let that dream go for now.
The product works well as an edge control, I have been using it to lay my edges for my updo that I am rocking this week.
The Curl Company – Deep Conditioning Curl Masque
This product promises to enhance and define waves and curls. I used this product as a deep conditioner even though the instructions say to keep it in the hair for 3-5 minutes. After rinsing out, my hair felt soft and moisturised. The scent is quite strong and lingered for a while after I had rinsed it out. I quite enjoyed the smell, so I didn’t mind that part at all. I’ve used the product twice now and I still have enough for 2 more uses – so if you have hair that is similar length to mine or less, you can expect at least 4 uses from each tub.
From first impressions, what I liked about this brand is the fact that they state ‘coils’ as one of the hair types that they cater for. It might be a marketing gimmick, but I am glad that my hair type is in there. I will carry on using the gel as a edge tamer for now, and the deep conditioner for when my hair needs a moisture boost.
The products are available at Clicks, the gel retails for R109.95 for 150 ml, and you can get the deep conditioner for R199.95 for 200ml.
The products look so yummy! It’s always nice to find products made for our hair. Thank you for the review Lungs
When you unravel the twists were they hard or soft, because some gels leave a hard feeling on my hair.
The twists were soft, I had them on for 3 days and I was moisturising them and applying gel daily. I think I may have applied too much gel
