Since we are in the throes of winter in the southern hemisphere, a lot of us are in protective styles to keep our hair hidden from the harsh elements. Protective styles can be great for length retention, minimising manipulation etc., however – if the taking down is not done right, you can undo all the benefits that the protective style bestowed on your hair. I have come up with a list of to-dos when taking down a protective style, these have worked for me for any type of protective style, be it braids, a weave and more recently; crochet braids.
I recently took down the crochet braids which I had on my hair for 5 weeks. I filmed the process in order to give a visual tutorial of how I treat my hair after taking down a protective style. Enjoy the video, and don’t forget to subscribe to my channel if you haven’t done so already 🙂
Those steps are boss!! Sections also help to make it so seamless!
Totally! Without sections, we are nothing 🙂
Thanks for the tips Lungi.
You’re welcome
Interesting post! Working in sections actually helps to reduce hair breakage.
