This month I finally got my hair back into a protective style, I was really getting tired of having to wash and style my hair each weekend – it took up so much time! I haven’t gotten to that point yet where I can go for 2 weeks without a wash day.
October Goals Review
- Do a wash and go Yes! Yes! Yes!
- Install protective style Yes! Yes! Yes!
Wash and go
One of my goals for October was to do a wash and go using my Ecostyler gel – I wrote all about it here and filmed a video of the process for my YouTube channel. I learnt some lessons during the process, I am planning to try it again in the summer time.
Protective style
As per my goals, I installed a protective style – I wanted to try twists, and I am happy to report that it went better than expected. Again, I filmed a video of the process. This protective style is already saving me so much time over the weekends and in the morning when getting ready for work.
Missing the curls
Back in my relaxed hair days, my favourite hairstyles were curly hair dos; I rocked bantu knot outs, perm rod sets and the works. I kinda miss that now – after nearly a year of not rocking any of those dos. Now that I am nearly a year post my big chop, I think my hair is long enough to fashion a curly do. I will definitely be attempting them in the summer.
November hair goals
- Moisturise my hair under my PS once a week
- Have a PS wash day
Funny enough I was thinking about ama bantu knots perm rods and flexi rods lately! Well done on achieving your goals and all the best in the new ones
Thank you friend – I can’t wait to try them out
Do you oil your scalp while its in the PS?
Not as often as I’d like to – it’s one of those things that I forget to do on the regular 🙁
Your braids are gorgeous. Are they crochet braids?
Thank you Joie, yes – they are crochet braids
Hi Lungi.Where do you get your eco styler from?
At least, you can handle your hair. My hair is arm pit length and it’s so unruly that I just wear an afro. I’m so frustrated with it and hair falls off. ugh detangling takes a really long time and conditioners are expensive. BTW I tried the Amla legend deep Conditioner overnight it didn’t seem to work or was I supposed to use heat? I have 4c hair high porosity.
