The last time I did this low end vs high end feature it was on mascaras, this time I am coming back with setting sprays. Setting sprays are a must in all makeup stashes. The main use is to ensure that it doesn’t move around throughout the day and also depending on the type of setting sprat, they can give you a dewy finish or mattify your makeup. When I started using makeup, I did not use setting sprays because the ones that I saw were all high end and I couldn’t afford them at the time. As luck would have it, there are more affordable setting sprays available on the market, in this post I will compare the high end and low end setting sprays that I own.

mac fix plus_clarins fix makeup

Clarins – Fix Make-up – R355 – 30ml*
This is my most used setting spray, I keep it in my makeup bag that I carry in my handbag, thus I use it throughout the day when I need a boost. It gives a dewy finish to the skin and smells like a dream, the smell though does not linger on the face.

MAC – Prep + Prime Fix + – R300 – 100ml
This was the first setting spray that I ever used, I did not like this setting spray when I started using it, I felt that it left my face too dewy (if there’s such a thing), my skin was oily at the time, so it did not help at all. However, over the months, my skin has become less oily and I have noticed a significant change when using this spray. I would say that it’s not the spray to use if you have oily skin.

LA Girl pro setting spray_elf makeup mist and set

Elf Cosmetics – Illuminating Mist & Set – $4 – 60 ml
This is the newest setting spray added to my makeup stash, I bought it on an international haul that I recently did. To be honest, I haven’t used it too many times to me to form an opinion, one thing that I can mention though is that it also gives a dewy finish.

LA Girl – Pro Setting HD Matte Finishing Spray – R90 – 30ml
This is one of the few lower priced setting sprays in South Africa, I bought it because I was interested in using a mattifying setting spray seeing as most of the setting sprays I use give a dewy finish. I must say that I did not experience the mattifying effects of this setting spray at all, which is very unfortunate.

expensive wateeeeeer. Gworl I’m using this stuff by woolies and I must say Its pretty decent. takes away the powderyness of my makeup and just pulls everything together. It does leave a dewy finish but if used on matter products, it dries to semi matte. love it. trouble is i can’t use it before to morsturise coz itll leave my skin soooo sticky and the makeup will crease all over the place. I’m looking at the LA girl spray. Hoping to try it when my financial situation improves.
