I have such a love hate relationship with red lipstick, I love how it looks on other people but not so much on me. I never gravitate towards it when buying lipstick or when choosing a lipstick to wear for a particular day. Be that as it may I have collected a number of red lipstick in my collection because I have that feeling at the back of my head that eventually I will fall in love with this colour on my lips. This is the 4th installment of my lipstick collection, I’ve posted articles on my nude, pink and purple lipstick collections.

Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm (Femme Fatale) I remember when Revlon came out with these a few years ago, they were so popular. If I remember correctly they were the first affordable brand in SA that sold these chubby sticks. I use this balm on my no makeup days when I want a colour on my lips without being too extra. I do need to reapply it frequently throughout the day which is expected because it is a balm. It has a minty/menthol smell which I find refreshing.

MAC Cremesheen (Brave Red) This is the latest addition to my collection, it was a birthday gift from my friendo Lebo <3. I love this red and more importantly I love the formula, the Mac cremesheen formula has always been a winner in my eyes.

The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid (Tahiti Hibiscus) I really had high hopes when I bought this lipstick but they were dashed. On the positive side: the colour is good, I love the velvety application and I love the smell, on the negative side: the application is patchy and the staying power is non-existant you need a really good lip pencil base in order to get great results.

MAC Retro Matte (Ruby Woo) This lipstick was such a peer pressure purchase! I thought that since everyone and their cat loved Ruby Woo I would too and boy was I wrong. I’ve tried to make this lipstick work on my lips so many times but it just doesn’t. I’ve gotten to a point where I have given up and have accepted the fact that Ruby Woo is not for me.

Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Colour (Spotlight Red) I haven’t worn this lipstick much at all to be honest, it is just one of those that hang around in my collection and never get any wear time. However, I can vouch for the Wet n Wild Mega Last lipstick formula, finish and staying power – all of them are a 10 out of 10!

Woolworths Longlasting Lipstick ( I don’t know the colour name) This is such a comfortable lipstick, I love the colour payoff and it has lasting power. I wore this lipstick on Valentine’s Day (pictured below) and I loved it!
