The month of love may be coming to an end but that doesn’t mean that you should stop spoiling that special person in your life. This is especially for all the people who are on the I don’t believe in Valentine’s Day, you should spoil your partner on every day of the year boat. In this post I am going to share a few of the romantic places in each of South Africa’s biggest cities: Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. Don’t worry if you are a Durbanite and you find the places in Johannesburg more romantic, you can always book return flights to Johannesburg as well as Cape Town on Travelstart.

Durban
I’m probably biased because I currently live in Durban, I’ve been living here since 2012. Besides the beach and the good weather all your round Durban has a lot to offer…

FunWorld
You can re-awaken the child in you by going to the FunWorld amusement park, there is loads to keep you entertained and a plus is that it’s right by the beach. I particularly love the cable car where you can get a bird’s eye view of the promenade.

FunWorld Durban

Dinner at Cargo Hold
I love eating out at Cargo Hold, it’s such a fascinating restaurant. See, this is a restaurant that is set inside of an old ship and it has an aquarium and a shark tank which are 2 floors tall inside the restaurant! So while you are enjoying your dinner, fish of all types are swimming around you. I’ve never met anyone who isn’t fascinated by this restaurant and the food is really good!

Johannesburg
I’ve never lived in Johannesburg but I regularly visit the city to see family and friends. If I had to go to a romantic trip to Jozi, these are the places that I would like to visit…

Hop on, hop off bus
I think this is the best way to see the different sites in the city and if it’s a beautiful day out you can sit in the top section of the bus and catch the sun.

Maboneng Precinct
I’ve only been to Maboneng once before and I would like to explore it further. I would love the spend an afternoon here checking out the restaurants, shops and activities. I love the fact that you can walk around on the streets because this is something that I don’t do much of.

Cape Town
I have a soft spot for the Mother City, I spent 4 years there studying at UCT. I left after graduating but I have been back to the city countless times and it always manages to capture me yet again. Out of the numerous romantic places in Cape Town I’ve chosen these 2 that stand out…

Top of Table Mountain
The top of Table Mountain is a definite must see when in Cape Town, now imagine being there at sunset with that special someone, definitely a romantic scene!

Drive along Chapman’s Peak Drive
This is such a beautiful drive with a lot of beautiful view points where you can stop and take those photos for the ‘gram. You can also opt to stop over at Hout Bay for a fish lunch, yummy!

Those are my top picks of romantic places in South Africa. Let me know which you think is South Africa’s most romantic city, and remember that if you don’t live in that city you can always book flights on Travelstart and make your way there.
