What if I told you you can donate to your favourite organisation/charity by simply voting for them online. The My School, My Village, My Planet fund-raising programme is giving away up to a million rand to various charities based on your vote. You can donate R5 per vote to your favourite charity or environmental organisation just by a click of a button. You can get other’s to join too by sharing your vote with your followers on social media thereby doubling your donation to R10.
The voting process has been open since the 18th of May and closes on the 18th of June 2018 (we have 6 more days, so hurry!). Here is how you cast your vote:
- Visit www.myschool.co.za/vote4charity
- Pick your favourite charity (if you don’t have a favourite, you can choose a charity that supports a cause you’re passionate about or a charity that is based in your home town)
- Enter your My School or Woolworths card number (if you don’t have one, you can sign up real quick)
- If you share your vote on social media, you get to double your donation to R10!
And that’s not all! Five lucky voters will win a R5000 Woolies voucher.

My chosen charity
I have chosen to vote for iCare, a Durban based organisation who are transforming the lives of street children in South Africa. What attracted me to this charity is their holistic approach in rehabilitating street children, equipping them with skills so that they can thrive in the world. They have a vision for a better South Africa where children do not live on the streets. We all know that it only takes one person to make a difference in a kid’s life and this is exactly what the people at iCare are doing.
