A visit to Perth was not on our original itinerary for this trip, we initially wanted to go to Sydney and Melbourne. But after we saw really value for money flights on SAA on Black Friday Perth was officially on our itinerary because SAA flies there directly from Johannesburg. I didn’t have much expectations about this city because I didn’t know much about it but I was pleasantly surprised.

** I have added all my Insta stories from Australia to a Highlights on my Instagram profile.

After being in Melbourne for nearly a week, Perth was a much welcomed change of pace, the city is much smaller than Melbourne and there were much less people. Our plan for our 2 days in the city was to:

  • go to the the beach because we didn’t do this properly in Melbourne,
  • go on a day’s tour to the winelands and then do some last minute shopping.

I’m glad to report that we ticked all the boxes.

Day 1
We landed on a very hot afternoon which was amazing for us because Melbourne had been cold. We got to our accommodation, chilled a bit and then found directions for public transport to the beach. We ended up going to Scarborough Beach for an early dinner and it turned out to be such a great choice!

Day 2
This day was all about the winelands, we booked a tour to Swan Valley which is 30 minutes outside Perth and did a wine, beer and chocolate tour. The whole day was amazing, I was a bit out of it by the end of it all… if you know what I mean. That evening we went for Friday after work drinks (lol! as if we had been working!) turned night club at a roof-top bar that was in our neighbourhood. I had an early night after that cos I was knackered!

Day 3
For this first time on our trip we ate out for breakfast! yum! After breakfast we took a walk to Elizabeth Quay which is like a riverfront set up with restaurants. After that we went to King’s Park which has the best views of the city and is also a botanical garden, so I was in my element. The rest of the day was spent shopping, taking naps, having our last supper in the city and packing before heading to the airport for our 23:45 flight to Johannesburg.

Western Australia Botanic Garden… let me tell you about this picture. We were looking around for someone in the park to snap us, a guy was taking pictures next to us and we said: excuse me, he didn’t quite hear us, but then another guy who was jogging heard us and stopped his jog to take a few photos of us, what a champ!
