Setting powders are a staple in my makeup routine, I don’t go a day without using them. Having said that they’re also super hard to hit pan on because only such a little get used at a time. Thus I’ve had the same setting powders for yeaarrrsss and I hardly ever add new ones to my stash, unless of course it’s a Fenty product!

Setting powders for dark skin

Black Opal True Colour Ultra Matte Foundation Powder – Medium Deep Even though this product is said to be a foundation powder, I use it on top of foundation. It sets my foundation well and is a good colour match to my skin. I don’t like how I have to periodically scrape the top layer off because when oil deposits settle it gets difficult to pick up the product with a brush.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Matte Powder Foundation – Rich Caramel This was the first high-end powder that I bought and I was quite disappointed. I bought the wrong shade (1) and I find that the product is so hard to pick up (2). I never use this, it is just gathering dust in my cupboard. PS. I haven’t had much luck with Double Wear products in the past in any case (other than the concealer).

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder – Hazelnut My love for Fenty Beauty products is no secret, I’ve loved each and every product that I have bought. I have been using this setting powder non-stop ever since I bought it at Sephora in Melbourne. It was my first foray into loose setting powders and this product did the thing. I am happy.
