I have decided to change up my Taking Stock series that I’ve been doing for a while and switching over to a Life Lately. Content wise I don’t think it will be much of a change except for the title. So read up and check out what has been happening in my life lately.

Training for a 10km
I’m currently in training for a 10km race. It is so daunting because I’ve never ran that long distance before. My training is going well, I do most of my training at the gym and from yesterday I did my first jog outside. My jog yesterday was 8km – the longest I’ve ever ran ever! And my inner thighs are feeling the burn today. The race is is just over 2 weeks, wish me luck!

Skincare
In my last post I mentioned how I was having skin troubles. Well I eventually threw in the towel on DIY treatments and went to the doctor and he put me on Accutane. I’ve been on it for the past 1.5 months and it has been working well for me. The sucky part is all the side effects which I’m experiencing in full force.

#AmINext
South African women have been under attack even more than usual lately with the surge of GBV. It’s disheartening to know that we aren’t safe *anywhere* literally. I feel pretty much useless in this situation because I feel like all I do is raise awareness and express my anger on social media. My social media community is mostly women who already are aware and are as equally angry – so I’m feeling a bit stuck.

South African Idols
This is me every year: Uurgh, I’m so over Idols, I’m not watching it this year. Fast forward 2 months later and I’m deep in Idols culture and I’m voting for my favourites. I do think that this year’s TOP 10 is much better than in recent years, so there is that. My fave this year is Sneziey – I love her personality, she’s so cute and has a voice to match!

I feel the same about idols and I was just like you… but shame since last year I stopped. The GBV is crazy… you are always doing risk assessment (at least I do in my head) of whether you should say hi back to a male stranger on the street, what could go wrong if you did this etc. Prayer and keeping safety as a priority is what’s in our power. Lungi you must look into whether you have a leaky gut. I was on acutane on two different occasions and the acne came back with a vengeance.

I also dobriaj assessments in those situations and try to strike a balance between being nice and not too nice that it puts me in danger. I’ll have a read up about leaky gut, thank you ❤️

Good luck for the race! You’re going to do your best. I’m a fan of these kinds of posts, so keep them coming.
