I love doing these posts because it gives me a chance to finally empty of the box of empty containers that sits under my makeup desk. It also allows me to be proud of myself for finishing products because it’s so easy for a blogger to always buy new stuff and for nothing to ever get finished. Now that I’m planning to be much more frugal with what I buy in 2020 – I will finally get to see my product stash dramatically decrease, here’s to hoping.
I will be sharing the products I have used up, a mini-review of each and letting you know whether I will repurchase or not. Items marked with an asterix (*) were received as press drops but as always my opinions are unbiased.
Skincare
Neutrogena Hydroboost Essence Lotion This was a purchase from Beijing in November 2018. I used this product for hydration in my morning and evening skincare routine. It really delivered in terms of hydration – this is what this Neutrogena range is known for. I would repurchase if I can find it easily in store.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner This is the second time I’ve bought this toner. It delivers in terms of hydration when I apply it using the 3 skins method. I’m keen to try other hydrating toners so I won’t be repurchasing.
Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Are you seeing a trend in the items that I’ve use up yet? I am a hydration junkie! This hyaluronic acid delivered sufficient hydration to the skin. I wasn’t a fan of it’s small size – it finished so quickly! I won’t be repurchasing.
Eucerin Sun Gel Cream SPF 50+ The LOML in terms of suncreen – I’ve spoken about this product so many times and I will repurchase for all of time. I’m currently trying out a more affordable alternative and you can read about my first impressions here.
*Johnson’s Daily Essentials Daily Wipes One of these packs I purchased by myself and the other was part of a press drop. How amazing is it when you buy a product for the first time and immediately fall in love with it and then get it as a press drop a few weeks later! This is exactly what happened to me with these wipes. They are soft and amazing on my currently sensitive skin – they are magic! I would repurchase.
Body Care
*Johnson’s Vita-Rich Body Lotion I found this lotion to be sticky when applied to the body – I didn’t enjoy that about it. I wouldn’t buy it.
*Bioderma Atoderm Ultra-Soothing Foaming Gel I loved this as a shower gel, it’s really good if you have really dry skin as it doesn’t leave your skin feeling stripped. I would purchase it
Johnson’s Vita-Rich Body Wash This product always makes it into my empties posts, it’s a favourite of mine. I have already repurchased it.
Woolworth’s Handcream – Watermelon The scent on this range from Woolies is amazing! The handcream also does a great job in keeping my hands moisturised. I will repurchase
Woolworth’s Lip Balm Nothing to write home about here, it’s not the world’s most moisturising lip balm and I had to keep on reapplying. I will no repurchase.
Nivea Creme I love this creme especially in the drier months, it does a wonderful job at moisturising the skin. It also works wonderfully as a hand cream. I really love it for travelling because you are guaranteed that it won’t spill in your bag. I will repurchase.
*Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Cream This is a great moisturiser for all year round. It is light to apply but also delivers lasting moisture through the day. I received this one in PR and I have already repurchased one using my own moola – that’s how much I loved it.
Nivea Shower Oil I rediscovered my love for this product. It was a firm favourite of mine 4 years ago. I will repurchase.
Makeup
This is always the pitiful part of my empties every single time because makeup items take soooo long to finish!
Essence Lash Princess Mascara I love this mascara and the price is amazing as well. I have repurchased the waterproof version which I am yet to use. Read this post from LeboKuty where she delves in more about these mascaras.
Essence Micro Precise Brow Pencil I bought this pencil thinking that it could be a cheaper alternative to the LA Girl Shady Slim. It worked well and I love it’s super slim tip. I have already repurchased it.
LA Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil I love this pencil and I will carry on repurchasing it.
Essence Brow Designer This pencil is good value for money. One disadvantage is that it’s a real pencil and the end gets blunt quite quickly which means you have to sharpen the pencil regularly and this leads to a lot of wastage.
Faces Lip Pencil I’ve had this lip pencil for over 5 years! (See what I mean about makeup products lasting forever!). It’s a lovely deep purple colour which I really enjoyed using. I won’t repurchase it because I have tons of lip pencils.
