I started using the bullet journal system 1 year ago and I’ve been hooked ever since, buying bullet journal supplies was one of the highlights of this new adventure. The system works well for me and it helps me to really organise my life while expressing my creativity at the same time. You can be as extra as you want to be when doing a bullet journal so you guys know I had to go all out.

If you want to learn more about the bullet journal system and what it’s all about you can read my introductory post here.

There are various stationery items that can be used for your bullet journal, they range from markers, stickers, washi tape, watercolour paint etc. What you use is totally up to you. Because I went so overboard in the beginning, I am currently on a stationery buying break because I *really* don’t need any more. But here are the places where you can find cute stationery.

Retail shops
First spot is all the usual retail shops that you can find at your local mall. Shops like Waltons, PNA, CNA will have your basic stationery (pens, coloured pens etc.). Recently, Typo has started stocking some really nice bullet journal items like sticker and stamps – so they’re also really worth checking out.

Online shops
There have been online stationery shops popping up in South Africa, they sell the cutest items and you can have your items delivered to you within a week. The prices are marked up but I do feel that it is worth the price considering that they stock a variety of items and shipping is pretty quick. The ones that I know of are: The Scriptorium, Props for Dots and That Stationery Slut. I have bought from The Scriptorium this year and I was satisfied with the process.

AliExpress
You guys know that buying from AliExpress is my ultimated spillion! nd it hasn’t been different for stationery. There are dedicated stationery shops with everything you need under the sun. Keep in mind that you’ll have to wait approximately 2 months to receive your items but with the corona virus outbreak, it might take even longer. I’ve bought stationery from AliExpress from this store, this store and this store.

Hello, how is Aliexpress with customs? I am worried it will be held up at sa customs.

None of the low price items that I’ve bought have been held up at customs. I usually pay R28 when I collect at the post office.
