Winter 2022 favourites

Seasonal favourites are my favourite posts to write on here because they allow me to reflect on some of the best moments of the previous season. Weather in KZN seems to have moved from winter right into summer, we’ve had super hot days in October which is weird because this is meant to be the most rainy month of the year, #climatechange.

Lemon & poppyseed cake
This has been Mpilo’s favourite flavour cake for this past season and it’s all I’ve been baking. It’s a very easy bake and I’ve found a recipe that works every time. And it also has some steps that I can get my 5 year old to do unsupervised. This cake doesn’t last for more than a few days at my house, it’s lovely to have with a cup of tea in the afternoon or after dinner.

Woolworths Food Cranberry and Kiwi Juice

Cranberry and Kiwi Juice
I’m not a regular juice drinker but I bless the day I was introduced to this flavour. It’s not too sweet and it is so refreshing. Just go ahead and try it if you haven’t already. Woolworths hit it out of the park with this one.

Brothers & Sisters
A throwback to the early 2000s when series were booming, I really enjoyed this series so when I saw it on Disney+ I knew I wanted a rewatch. I probably watched it over 6 weeks or so – it felt a warm hug from the inside out. I surprisingly remembered most parts of the series but also realised that I actually hadn’t wanted the last season of the show.

A glowy, barely there makeup look
Through my favourite platform at the moment, Tik Tok, I was introduced by the American girls to a powder-free, barely there makeup look. Even though we were in winter, I rocked this look anyway. I love its simplicity and the quickness in which I could apply it. I use mostly Fenty Beauty products to achieve this look, they have a number of cream/liquid products that just work for this type of look.
