blog break 2019

blog break 2019

It’s about that time, alas it has come earlier this year. After deciding to get back into regularly blogging in 2019 I managed to publish 77 posts this year and I’m super proud of myself. I also started creating YouTube content on a regular basis as well from May 2019. Needless to say, I am tired!

I’ll be taking a break from publishing new content for the whole of December and 2 weeks in January. In this time I’ll be relaxing and enjoying my evenings :).

I can’t thank you enough for all the support of my side hustle this past year, you guys are the real MVPs and I really appreciate it. I hope you all have an awesome and restful holiday period. Let’s all come back refreshed and ready to secure the bag in 2020.

I have decided to change up my Taking Stock series that I’ve been doing for a while and switching over to a Life Lately. Content wise I don’t think it will be much of a change except for the title. So read up and check out what has been happening in my life lately.

This is the winter 2019 edition of my life update series, it’s funny because I’m writing this while I’m in Cote D’Ivoire where it is full on summer and it’s warm and humid but I know that South Africa is in the grip of a chilly couple of days. This is what I’ve been up to in my life lately.

#everycupcounts

Colgate Every Cup Counts

I admit that I have been guilty of not using a cup when brushing my teeth (even though I know better!) – I don’t let the water run while I’m brushing but it’s definitely running while I’m rinsing my mouth and my toothbrush. So the #everycupcounts campaign by Colgate to ensure that we all use only 1 cup of water when brushing our teeth directly speaks to people like me. View Post

Happy 2019!

I hope you guys had a great holiday. I was so hasty to leave that I didn’t even write a blog post to close out 2018, shame on me! I had a great holiday, I started off with a few days at home by myself (that was my real rest time), we then had the family over for Christmas and spent the days leading up to the New Year just the 3 of us.

Being on holiday with a toddler is a lot of work – especially one who is going through a clingy phase who only wants mommy and has learnt to say ‘angifuni’ (I don’t want!) and ‘eh eh na’ (no!). She also started being able to open the bedroom doors this holiday – so it was goodbye to being able to hide out in the bedroom. It was not all doom & gloom though – we did have some lovely times and it was great being able to spend so much time with her.

I’m really planning to do more blogging this year – I realised that I missed it so much, so I’m gonna kick this laziness bug and get to writing more.

Here’s to a wonderful 2019!

Love, Lungi

hashtag girlboss… I have a side hustle (beautybylungi)

BeautybyLungi

I am so excited to write this post, it is so surreal that the day is finally here. From the 1st of July I have started my side hustle as the cool kids call it – I’m a professional makeup artist, BeautybyLungi! This is something I have been wanting to do and kept pushing it aside for quite some time. I eventually decided to get my ducks in a row and launch my business once and for all.  View Post

I love doing these Taking Stock posts – it gives me time to sit and think where my life is at the moment and it is also a great way to share a bit of myself with you my lovely readers of my blog :). My timing is still a bit off, I think I will do one every 3 months at the start of every season: spring, summer, autumn and winter. So this is sort of my very late Spring one. Enjoy!

Why I started blogging

Hi everyone, I just thought it would be an awesome idea to give you a bit of insight as to why I started this blog and of my intentions with it going forward.

I had a hair blog 5 months after starting my hair journey – I needed a place where I could document all that I was doing with my hair and I felt that a blog would keep me on my toes with respect to that. I also wanted to take lots of pictures to track my progress visually. View Post

[off hair] What’s in my bag?

wpid-fontover_2015723151211776.jpgI have seen this tag floating around and I thought it was quite cute and fun. I waited and waited to be tagged, but nope – so I am doing it anyway because I am a rebel like that. So I decided not to do my entire handbag, just one of the little bags within my bigger handbag where I carry all my beauty things to keep me looking fresh throughout the day. I carry around a lot of stuff – I never want to be caught unprepared and I am quite lazy to unpack my bag so I end up carrying all my junk around.  View Post
